Brunch at Katie's in New Orleans

While meandering down Bourbon (with a go cup, naturally) the universe was on our side when we met Bartender Corey. Of course, your girls were on the hunt for epic brunch in the fine city of NOLA so we asked him for his recommendation. Corey’s response was simply, Katie’s.
Rumor on the street was that you could pick up the lime green Canal (City Park/Museum) streetcar in the Quarter and take it down to the Telemachus exit to get there. Not saying we got on the wrong line…however, we may be the gals that thought all the lines were the same (insert facepalm). Pro tip: the colors are important! If you are not a master at city navigation, Uber to the rescue for about $10.
You can’t help but get excited when you come upon the large purple structure bursting with people. If you don’t want to wait, get there early. Otherwise, nab a mimosa and enjoy the people watching.
After doing some menu recon, we realized they served the quintessential NOLA beignets, but not just any beignets… crawfish beignets! Y’all, beignets stuffed with crawfish, cheddar, mozzarella, sweet onion, and jalapeños, topped with a sinful jalapeño aioli…YUM. I would gladly pay the airfare back just for this beignet.
Our other favorite was definitely the bbq shrimp and grits with a creamy herb butter. And of course, it would not be brunch if you don’t pair these delights with bottomless cocktails. Your choices: mimosas, bloody marys, red sangria, or white sangria. It’s no wonder Katie’s has been featured on The Food Network’s On the Road & Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! Needless to say I will definitely be back next time I am in town and highly recommend Katie’s for anyone looking for brunch in New Orleans!
